Holbox Island, Quintana Roo — Police arrested eight suspected drug dealers on Holbox Island after catching them selling narcotics on a public street during a targeted operation.
Investigators from the State Prosecutor’s Office detained five men and three women on Canané Street, between Pedro Joaquín Coldwell and Paseo Carey avenues, where they were allegedly distributing drugs.
During the operation, officers seized multiple plastic bags containing dry green plant material with characteristics similar to marijuana, which appeared packaged for retail sale.
Initial investigations suggest the detainees are linked to a criminal group accused of generating violence in the state through drug trafficking and distribution in the area.
Authorities turned the eight individuals over to the Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine their legal status while continuing to investigate their alleged criminal activities.
