Cancún, Mexico — The third winter storm of the season impacting various regions of the United States and Canada caused disruptions to 46 flights at Cancún International Airport, including cancellations and delays, on Sunday, January 25.
According to the airport’s operational report, adverse weather conditions forced airlines to make adjustments to their operations to safeguard the safety of passengers and crews, resulting in 39 canceled flights and seven with delays.
Of the total affected flights, 17 arrivals and 22 departures were canceled, while five arrivals and two departures experienced delays.
The delayed arrivals corresponded to flights from American Airlines, Delta, Viva Aerobus, and JetBlue, while the delayed departures involved American Airlines and Delta.
Regarding cancellations, the airlines with the highest number of suspended operations were American Airlines and JetBlue, followed by United Airlines, Southwest, Delta, Frontier, Spirit, and WestJet, both in arrivals and departures.
Airport authorities reiterated the call for passengers to verify the status of their flights before traveling to the airport, maintain communication with their airlines, and consider possible last-minute changes to their itineraries, as weather conditions in North America continue to affect air operations.
