Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The community of Uxuxubi is waiting on a decree from the Quintana Roo state government to formally join the Mundo Sagrado community tourism corridor, a project that would bring together three communities in Playa del Carmen and 22 in the Kantunilkín area, resident Pablo Molina Cruz said.
Molina Cruz said Mundo Sagrado would become the 13th tourism corridor in Quintana Roo. Uxuxubi’s inclusion, he added, would allow the community to seek public funding to strengthen its offerings as a community tourism destination.
Among the planned improvements, he highlighted road rehabilitation, which he described as essential to making access easier for visitors and linking the area’s various attractions.
Molina Cruz said those works would also benefit at least 20 small destinations between Akumal and Uxuxubi, where visitors can tour cenotes, ride zip lines, hike and go birdwatching.
The community’s incorporation into the corridor has yet to be finalized. For Uxuxubi, the project represents a chance to improve connectivity and strengthen local tourism activity.
