Upon arrival, responders found the man’s lifeless body on the shore with clear signs of immersion. The discovery occurred between the Luna Azul and Playa Caribe condominiums, a popular area for swimming and snorkeling among tourists. Witnesses reported the incident after noticing the man had not returned from the water.

Victim Identified

The victim was identified as 72-year-old Gregory Michael, a resident of Michigan, United States. Personnel from the Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO) were notified to retrieve the body and conduct the legally required autopsy.

Safety Warnings Reiterated

Following the tragedy, local officials renewed calls for both domestic and international visitors to heed water safety advisories. They emphasized the importance of avoiding swimming in hazardous conditions and adhering to posted warnings along the coastline.

While surveillance remains in place across municipal beaches, authorities stressed that individual precaution is critical to preventing accidents, particularly in areas without permanent lifeguard presence.
