Cancun, Mexico — Assailants on a motorcycle shot two women who were located in front of a hotel in Cancun's Supermanzana 66, in the city's urban zone. According to initial reports, the victims were on the public thoroughfare in front of the "María del Carmen" hotel when a motorcycle carrying two men approached.
The individual riding on the back of the vehicle drew a weapon and fired multiple times at them. Following the attack, the aggressors fled rapidly toward Avenida Tulum via Avenida Francisco Ignacio Madero, better known as Ruta 4.
Both women, who sustained injuries from the gunshots, were immediately transported to the facilities of the Cancun General Hospital inside a taxi from the "Andrés Quintana Roo" union to receive medical attention.
Agents of Investigation from the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) went to the hospital to interview the victims and initiate inquiries. One of them recounted that the attack occurred around 22:00 hours.
At the scene of the attack, elements of the Municipal Police secured the area after finding several spent shell casings and called the FGE for the collection of evidence and the initiation of the corresponding investigation filearman.
