Cancún, Quintana Roo — Police arrested two young adults on Monday for allegedly reselling tickets to a free Banda MS concert scheduled for Tuesday at Cancún’s Beto Ávila Stadium.
The suspects, a man and a woman both around 20 years old, were caught by municipal police officers and inspection personnel at a shopping center. The concert marks the closing event of the Cancún Carnival 2026, and the city government distributed two tickets per person at the stadium on Monday.
However, posts offering tickets for resale appeared on Facebook groups early in the day, with some sellers asking 600 pesos per ticket or more.
Although municipal police have not released official information, sources said the arrest occurred at a plaza when the pair allegedly met with potential buyers. Municipal staff and officers then arrived, confiscated the tickets, and inspected their belongings.
The suspects were taken to the Municipal Detention Center, commonly known as “El Torito.”
