Two Suspected Multiple Homicide Suspects Ordered to Pretrial Detention in Tulum

Tulum, Quintana Roo — A judge has ordered two-year pretrial detention for two men accused of kidnapping, torturing, and attempting to murder a Venezuelan citizen in Tulum, the Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office announced.

Alfredo “N” and Jacinto “N” were formally charged in connection with the May 10 incident in the Aldea Zama neighborhood. According to the investigation, the victim was abducted while walking and taken to a construction site near Kukulkan Avenue, where he was physically assaulted and threatened with death.

Prosecutors said the suspects placed a rope around the victim’s neck and tried to kill him, but he managed to escape. Authorities are also investigating possible robbery and sexual assault.

The two men are also suspected of involvement in two recent homicides in the La Veleta neighborhood. One victim was found decomposing in a wooded area, and another was suffocated and abandoned in a green space. Investigators believe drug-related disputes may have motivated the killings.

Alfredo “N” and Jacinto “N” were arrested by state investigative police, working with the Mexican Army and municipal police. The judge ordered pretrial detention for up to two years or until the trial concludes.
