Two men shot in Cancún market area attack

Cancún, Mexico — Two men were victims of an attempted execution this afternoon outside a beer store in Region 100, near the area’s market.

Initial reports indicate that around 6 p.m., individuals apparently on a motorcycle intercepted the men and shot at them at least eight times.

One of the injured was left lying on the sidewalk, while the other was on the pavement of Ruta 5 Avenue, a few meters from 127th Street.

The armed attack caused panic among residents of the area and customers and vendors at the local market.

Paramedics arrived at the scene minutes later and, after stabilizing the injured, transported them urgently to the General Hospital of this city.

Police officers cordoned off the area until experts from the State Attorney General’s Office processed the scene to gather evidence for an investigation file.

So far, police authorities have not reported any arrests.
