ISLA MUJERES, QROO — Violence again shook the continental zone of Isla Mujeres on Tuesday night after the lifeless bodies of two men with gunshot wounds were located on a dirt road in the La Loma neighborhood.

Residents of the area alerted authorities after hearing multiple firearm detonations, which prompted an intense police mobilization. The gunshots were reported via the 911 emergency number, and security protocols were immediately activated.

Municipal Police, in coordination with state officers, arrived at the scene, accompanied by an ambulance from the Mexican Red Cross, Cancún delegation. Upon arrival, paramedics confirmed that both victims no longer showed any vital signs.

The bodies were found inside a dirt path, while a black cap, possibly related to the events, was located on the main paved road. According to preliminary accounts, it is presumed the victims were executed at the same location where they were found.

Minutes later, agents from the Ministerial Police and forensic experts from the State Attorney General's Office arrived to process the area, collect ballistic evidence, and proceed with the removal of the bodies.

Although the official identities of the deceased have not been confirmed, a family came to the site stating that they could be missing relatives. Authorities are expected to carry out the necessary procedures for formal identification in the coming hours.

This criminal incident adds to the growing concern of residents who fear a wave of crime in the continental zone of Isla Mujeres, a region that has recorded an increase in intentional homicides allegedly linked to organized crime and retail drug trafficking.

Authorities have opened an investigation file to clarify the double homicide.
