Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Two men allegedly involved in extortion were detained by Playa del Carmen municipal police after reportedly assaulting officers during a confrontation in the Centro neighborhood.
Incident Details
According to police reports, officers from the Secretariat of Citizen Security responded to a call from a woman who identified the suspects as individuals who had been extorting her. When authorities approached the men, they allegedly began insulting the woman before turning their aggression toward the officers, kicking and shoving them.
The suspects were identified as Guadalupe "N," a 29-year-old native of Chiapas, and Estanislao "N," a 21-year-old Quintana Roo resident. Both were placed in custody and handed over to the State Attorney General’s Office for further legal proceedings.
The arrests occurred during a routine surveillance operation in the area. Authorities have not disclosed additional details regarding the extortion allegations.
