Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo — A collision between two vehicles on Federal Highway 307 near the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya caused traffic delays but resulted in no serious injuries, authorities reported.
The accident occurred at a U-turn lane when the driver of a white Nissan Tsuru, traveling north to south, attempted to merge. A gray Volkswagen Vento heading in the opposite direction—south to north—reportedly had its path cut off, leading to the crash.
The impact created a tense scene as passing motorists stopped and quickly exited their vehicles to assist those involved. Despite significant visible damage to both cars, no one sustained serious injuries.
Emergency personnel arrived minutes later, with paramedics providing on-site medical assessments to the drivers and passengers. After evaluation, officials confirmed that none of those involved required hospital transport, so they remained at the scene for necessary procedures.
The collision partially affected traffic flow in the area as crews attended to the scene and removed the damaged vehicles, causing slow-moving traffic in both directions on the federal highway.
National Guard officers from the highway division later arrived to determine responsibility and gather information for the corresponding investigation. A tow truck eventually transported the vehicles to an impound lot, where they will remain until legal responsibilities are determined and damages are covered.
Authorities urged drivers to exercise caution, respect speed limits, and perform maneuvers with adequate anticipation, especially in U-turn zones and areas with high vehicle traffic, to prevent similar accidents.
