Two Arrested, Drugs Seized, Minors Rescued in Playa del Carmen Raid

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Two people were arrested and two minors were taken into protective custody Wednesday morning during a police raid on a home in the Luis Donaldo Colosio Murrieta neighborhood, where authorities also found suspected narcotics, according to preliminary information from the scene.

The operation began shortly before 9 a.m. at a residence near Avenida 45, Calle 70, and Avenida Luis Donaldo Colosio. During the search, investigators found substances believed to be powdered cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, and marijuana, according to the Federal Prosecutor’s Office (FGR).

The property allegedly operated as a clandestine establishment offering sexual services and selling alcoholic beverages. Because two minors were found inside, personnel from the Specialized Group for Attention to Family and Gender Violence (Geavig) also took part in the operation, and the children were later placed under official protection.

The raid was carried out by agents of the Federal Ministerial Police, assigned to the FGR’s Criminal Investigation Agency, with support from Mexican Army personnel and the National Guard. Federal forces remained in the area while investigators processed evidence found inside the property.

According to accounts from the neighborhood, the property had been operating in this manner for some time. It was also reported that a property across the street had been searched last year under allegedly similar circumstances.

The arrested individuals and the evidence collected during the raid were handed over to the federal prosecutor’s office to continue the investigation.
