Tulum to Host First Public Real Estate Fair to Combat Fraud and Boost Investor Confidence

Officials and organizers announce Tulum's first public real estate fair aimed at combating fraud and boosting investor confidence.

Tulum, Quintana Roo — Tulum will host Mexico’s first public real estate fair, a joint initiative between private developers and federal, state, and municipal governments aimed at providing legal certainty for property buyers, sellers, and investors.

The event will bring together real estate developers, notaries, bar associations, and housing marketing companies, along with key institutions like the Institute of the National Housing Fund for Workers (Infonavit), the Secretariat of Sustainable Territorial and Urban Development (Sedetus), and municipal Urban Development and Cadastre departments.

Organizers said the fair will allow interested individuals to resolve questions directly with specialists and competent authorities, avoiding risks and promoting legally backed transactions. Attendees can receive guidance on property deed processes, regularization, urban procedures, and legal requirements for buying or selling properties.

The program includes a series of conferences throughout the day, targeting both the general public and sector professionals, particularly real estate brokers, who can also access certification processes. Organizers aim to raise local market standards and strengthen sector professionalization.

The fair comes amid rapid growth in Tulum’s real estate market, which has attracted interest from national and foreign investors, including retirees from the United States seeking to settle in the region.

Organizers acknowledged recent cases of developments with irregularities or lacking documentation, which have generated distrust among some buyers. They emphasized that the fair aims to offer a transparent environment with institutional support to ensure investments have legal backing.
