Cozumel Triathlon 2025: 1,100 Athletes Compete

Cozumel, Mexico — Chankanaab Park was transformed into the stage for a vibrant sports celebration this morning as it hosted the 13th edition of the Triathlon AsTri Cozumel 2025. The event brought together more than 1,100 athletes of various nationalities, solidifying the island's status as a premier destination for sports tourism in Mexico.

Juanita Alonso Marrufo, the Director General of the Cozumel Parks and Museums Foundation (FPMC), was present for the start of the event and the awards ceremony. During her address, she emphasized that, within the context of World Tourism Day celebrated on September 27, Cozumel reaffirms its status as the "Island of Sport," being a preferred location for high-performance athletes and tourists seeking a conducive environment for practicing various disciplines.

The Governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama, also voiced her support for the event, highlighting its importance within the framework of the New Agreement for Wellbeing and Development of the state. This initiative strengthens both the local economy and sports tourism, particularly during the low season.

In the women's elite category, triathlete Marcela Álvarez Solís took first place with a time of 1:06:15. She was followed by Ana María Valentina Torres Gómez, who finished in 1:08:15, and by Cozumel native Faride Guadalupe Achach Sleme, with a time of 1:14:35.

In the men's elite category, Dilan Campa Carranza secured first place with a time of 56:44. He was followed by Osvaldo Darrel Zúñiga Fierro and Alfredo Miguel Rodríguez Figueroa.

The triathlon, which consisted of a 750-meter swim, a 20-kilometer cycling segment, and a 5-kilometer run, positions Chankanaab as an ideal location for competition, showcasing the effort and dedication of the participants.

This event was attended by prominent figures from the sports and tourism sectors, reaffirming Cozumel's role as a host for international-level events and contributing to its economic and touristic development.
