In the early hours of Sunday morning, a horrific event unfolded in an apartment in the Paseos del Mar subdivision, located in Region 251 of Cancun. Four individuals, three men and a woman, were tragically killed. A five-year-old girl was also injured during the incident.
The attack took place at approximately 2 a.m., while a gathering was in progress in the apartment. Initial reports suggest that armed assailants arrived at the 'D' apartment building, situated at the intersection of Isla Comores and Isla Aruba streets. They reportedly threatened the attendees before carrying out the fatal act.
After the assailants had fled the scene, neighbors, alerted by the sound of gunfire and the cries of the injured child, bravely entered the apartment. The young girl was swiftly taken to a nearby hospital by these concerned neighbors.
Eyewitness accounts from the neighbors indicate that the victims had been bound before being killed with a gunshot to the head. Once alerted, local authorities promptly arrived at the scene to secure the area and preserve any potential evidence.
The bodies of the victims were subsequently transported to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) for legally required autopsies. The investigation into this tragic event is ongoing.
