Cancún, Quintana Roo — A man lost his life in a tragic incident on the morning of Tuesday on Federal Highway 180, heading from Cancún towards Leona Vicario. The accident is believed to have occurred just after dawn, with a lack of public lighting in the area cited as a contributing factor. Motorists traveling through the location reportedly failed to see the man, as his body was shattered and scattered across several meters of the roadway.

The victim was apparently walking along the busy road in the early hours of Tuesday near the El Porvenir and La Chiapaneca neighborhoods. As an area lacking sidewalks or pedestrian paths, individuals are forced to encroach on the traffic lanes, exposing themselves to this type of accident. Unfortunately, several vehicles are believed to have driven over the body and continued on their way.

Emergency Response and Initial Confusion

Through the 911 emergency number, municipal authorities were alerted. Incoming calls reported what was described as a dismembered body, prompting officers from the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security and Transit (SMSCyT) and the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) to respond to the report, as it was initially thought to be an event related to organized crime. This was ruled out upon their arrival at the scene.

Traffic flow was subsequently closed in both directions, as the body was found scattered across both lanes. This closure left workers commuting to the community of Leona Vicario and those entering Cancún stranded until the Forensic Services unit completed the corresponding procedures.
