Deadly Crash on Tulum Highway Sparks Safety Concerns

Tulum, Quintana Roo — A fatal accident has left the Akumal community in mourning after a man lost his life Monday morning after being struck by a vehicle on Federal Highway 307, directly in front of the Oasis Hotel. The victim was attempting to cross the road in an area lacking pedestrian infrastructure, resulting in the deadly collision.

Emergency Response and Fatal Outcome

The incident prompted a rapid mobilization of emergency services. Personnel from Tulum Civil Protection were the first to arrive at the scene, securing the area to prevent further accidents while awaiting paramedics from Tulum Hospital. Upon their arrival, medical personnel confirmed that the man, estimated to be between 30 and 40 years old, showed no signs of life.

The victim’s body was found lying on the asphalt with visible signs of severe trauma and heavy bleeding. Nearby, a backpack and other personal belongings were discovered, leading authorities to believe the deceased may have been a worker or visitor traveling on foot to his destination.

Vehicle Involved and Damage

The vehicle involved was a white Nissan X-Trail with license plate UUR-528-K, registered to the car rental company Autosur. The impact left the truck’s hood completely destroyed and the airbags deployed, indicating the severity of the collision.

Municipal police, the National Guard, and forensic experts from the State Attorney General’s Office arrived at the scene to document evidence, recover the body, and initiate an investigation to determine liability.
