Cancun, Quintana Roo — The city’s history will come alive again as Tiziana Roma Barrera resumes her traditional walking tours, offering residents and visitors a chance to explore Cancun’s origins through its most iconic sites.
The event, called “Tiziana’s Walking Tour,” is set for Sunday, July 26, in Cancun’s founding zone. Roma, a urban chronicler, interpreter of Cancun, and author of the book “Para entender y amar Cancun” (To Understand and Love Cancun), will share stories, anecdotes, and key moments that shaped the city’s birth and growth.
During the walk, participants will learn about Cancun’s early years, stroll along historic streets, meet figures who contributed to the development of the tourist destination, and understand how the city has built its identity over more than five decades.
The tour aims to strengthen collective memory, promote historical heritage, and foster a sense of belonging among citizens, offering a cultural experience for all ages.
The initiative is part of the programming of the Institute of Culture and Arts of Benito Juarez. It will be wheelchair accessible and pet-friendly, so attendees can bring their dogs.
Organizers recommend wearing comfortable shoes, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, and bringing plenty of water to stay hydrated.
