Three Sentenced to 37 Years in Prison for Femicide in Cancún

Cancún, Quintana Roo — An oral trial court has sentenced three people to 37 years and six months in prison for the femicide of a woman in Cancún in May 2024.

The court found Ángel Abad Adame, Felipe González Magaña and Suri Ivett Rodríguez Juárez guilty, the Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office said. The victim’s identity has been withheld.

Vehicle Dispute Turned Deadly

According to the investigation, the attack occurred on May 13, 2024, at a home in the Paseos del Mar housing complex. Rodríguez Juárez had phoned the victim and asked her to come to the house, saying they could resolve personal differences.

When the victim arrived, González Magaña demanded the return of a vehicle. After she said she no longer had it, all three attacked her and inflicted multiple injuries, prosecutors said.

Body Found Days Later

The woman died hours after the attack. González Magaña and Rodríguez Juárez then moved her body to a dirt road in the La Joya neighborhood, where authorities found it on May 17, 2024.

Each of the three sentenced defendants must also pay a fine of 244,282 pesos. The court additionally set restitution at 1,259,585.80 pesos.
