A serious car accident occurred on the federal highway between Cancún and Playa del Carmen, near the entrance to Cancún and close to the Nickelodeon amusement park. A private car was rear-ended by a public service Urvan, resulting in injuries to three individuals.
Emergency services were quickly alerted to the incident, with paramedics from the Costamed company arriving swiftly at the scene. They provided immediate first aid to the injured parties.
The private car, a sedan with the license plate USU 158 K from the state of Quintana Roo, was struck from behind by the Urvan. These vehicles are a common sight on the Cancún-Playa del Carmen highway. National Guard personnel were dispatched to the accident site to investigate the incident and ascertain the drivers' responsibilities.
The victims sustained multiple contusions. Although these injuries were not severe and did not necessitate immediate hospital transport, the paramedics advised that they seek further medical attention due to the accident.
The vehicles involved in the accident were towed to a private impound lot. One of the vehicles was declared unfit for use, necessitating further procedures. This unfortunate incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers on the Cancún-Playa del Carmen highway.
