Three former officials from the Solidaridad municipality have been disqualified from public service for three years due to their involvement in the illegal exhumation of bones from the municipal cemetery. The incident was first discovered at the beginning of the current government's term, and the officials were part of the previous administration led by Laura Beristain Navarrete.

Adrián Pérez Vera, the municipal trustee of Solidaridad, confirmed the ruling of the Administrative Justice Tribunal. The case originated from a complaint filed by the municipality three years ago when bone remains were found in black bags in a viewing room. These remains are believed to have been illegally removed from the cemetery to resell burial plots.

The tribunal found that the three officials had committed crimes such as abuse of functions and influence trafficking. They had profited from the sale of these plots, leading to their disqualification. In addition to the ban, two of the officials have been ordered to pay compensation of 10,000 pesos and a fine of 60,000 pesos for the economic damage caused.

While Pérez Vera did not disclose the names of the officials, he indicated that one of them was the director of Public Services, potentially Juan Carlos Segura Espadas. Another was the director of Cemeteries, while the third official worked in the same area.

Pérez Vera stated that the ruling is not yet final, as it can be appealed in the second and third instances. The officials have a period of 15 days to respond.

As for the former municipal president, Laura Beristain Navarrete, it has been proven that she failed to comply with regulations by not carrying out the handover process. However, as there was no quantifiable economic damage, she was disqualified for only three months. The possibility of appealing this sentence for a harsher punishment is still being considered.
