13 domestic violence cases advance in Quintana Roo courts

Quintana Roo, Mexico — Thirteen alleged perpetrators of violence against their partners are facing justice, with twelve formally charged and one detained under an arrest warrant, in cases registered across five municipalities in the state.

The majority of the criminal proceedings are in the municipality of Playa del Carmen, with five formal charges for domestic violence in different cases and one detainee under an arrest warrant. Three other alleged aggressors are from the municipality of Benito Juárez; one from Bacalar, one from Othón P. Blanco, and one more from Felipe Carrillo Puerto.

Cases in Playa del Carmen

In Playa del Carmen, two of the accused are Jaime “N” and Cristian Uriel “N”, who were formally charged with the crime of domestic violence against victims whose identities are protected. The first physically and verbally assaulted his romantic partner in front of their children; while the second threatened to kill his ex-partner and injured her in the head with a bladed weapon.

Two others formally charged in Playa del Carmen were identified as Luis Alberto “N” and Carlos “N”, who are accused of assaulting their romantic partners; the first physically and verbally assaulted the victim, while the second committed acts of physical and psychological violence against the affected woman.

The other detainee in this same municipality, Marvin “N”, was formally charged with simple injuries against his romantic partner and his minor daughter, for events that occurred in the Colosio neighborhood. The now accused discovered that the adolescent was smoking and had a boyfriend, which led him to physically assault her with a belt; when the mother intervened, she was also physically and verbally assaulted.

Cases in Other Municipalities

In the municipality of Benito Juárez, the detainee, Roberto “N” was charged with domestic violence against his ex-partner and for injuries to an 8-year-old minor. According to the investigations, he forced the lock on the entrance door to the victim’s home and assaulted her, throwing objects that injured the girl. For this reason, the alleged perpetrator was placed under the precautionary measure of justified preventive detention.

The other two detainees in the municipality of Benito Juárez are Jorge Samuel “N” and Marco Antonio “N”, who received the formal charging order for domestic violence against their ex-partners, whom they physically and verbally assaulted.

In the municipality of Bacalar, Gabriel “N” was formally charged for assaulting his partner in the town of San Isidro La Laguna. According to the complaint, he committed acts of psychological and verbal violence, which included forcing her out of the home and burning her clothes and those of her daughter.

Two other perpetrators, Jimy Adrián “N” and Silvano “N” were formally charged for domestic violence in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco. The first physically and verbally assaulted his ex-partner, while the second committed physical and psychological violence against his romantic partner.

In the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto, the detainee Sandy Jardiel “N” received the formal charging order for domestic violence, for physically and verbally assaulting his romantic partner.

In addition to the twelve formal charges, elements of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) captured Alberto Enrique “N”, in compliance with an arrest warrant for his probable participation in the crime of domestic violence against his ex-partner.
