Cancún, Mexico — A 14-year-old teenager was detained by police officers tonight after being accused of alleged indecent acts against a three-year-old child in a park in Region 240.
The incident occurred around 9 p.m. in a park located on Leona Vicario Avenue, near the corner with Diagonal Tulum.
According to initial reports, a neighbor noticed the situation and alerted nearby people, which allowed for immediate intervention.
After being discovered, the teenager allegedly pushed the child and fled the scene, running to a residence located in block 3 of the same superblock, where he took refuge with his grandparents. Neighbors from the area followed him to the property and gathered outside, demanding the intervention of authorities.
Municipal Police officers arrived at the site and managed to control the situation, preventing acts of violence. Additionally, they requested the intervention of the Specialized Group for Attention to Family and Gender Violence (Geavig) to provide care for the affected child.
The child and his mother were taken to the facilities of the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security and Transit, where medical personnel conducted an evaluation of the child.
The results will be included in the corresponding investigation file.
With at least 30 neighbors present at the teenager’s residence, the agents spoke with the family members, who ultimately agreed to hand him over voluntarily. The minor was placed at the disposal of the State Attorney General’s Office.
The ministerial authorities will be responsible for continuing the investigations and determining the legal situation of the teenager.
