Taxi driver shot after service to ranch in Puerto Aventuras

Taxi vehicle with bullet impacts secured at Puerto Aventuras taxi union after shooting incident

Puerto Aventuras, Quintana Roo — A taxi driver was transported to a hospital after being shot while providing transportation service to San Josecito ranch, located south of the Puerto Aventuras municipality. The incident triggered an intense mobilization of security forces from all three levels of government.

According to preliminary information, the operator was heading toward that area when he was intercepted by armed individuals who opened fire on him. The public transportation unit showed at least three bullet impacts, causing alarm among area residents and fellow taxi drivers.

Following the attack, the vehicle was secured and transported to the facilities of the Puerto Aventuras taxi union, where it remained under guard while forensic personnel conducted corresponding procedures and collected evidence for the investigation.

The driver suffered a bullet wound in one arm; however, it was reported that his health condition is stable and he is out of danger. The taxi driver managed to transport himself to the Puerto Aventuras Health Center, where he received immediate medical attention.

Subsequently, he was referred to the IMSS Bienestar hospital in Playa del Carmen for a more comprehensive evaluation and to rule out possible complications from the attack.
