Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A taxi driver was arrested by municipal police officers after allegedly being found in possession of 55 doses of suspected crystal methamphetamine and marijuana. The arrest occurred during a surveillance operation in the Cruz de Servicios neighborhood, an area identified as a hotspot for small-scale drug trafficking.
Details of the Arrest
The suspect, identified as Eduardo Alfredo "N," 22, was driving a white Toyota Avanza with green stripes, bearing taxi number 1,001, affiliated with the "Lázaro Cárdenas del Río" taxi union. Authorities intercepted the vehicle on Chemuyil Avenue, between CTM and Paseo Central streets, near the perimeter of Plaza Las Américas, following a tip-off.
During a search of the taxi, officers discovered multiple packages containing what appeared to be narcotics, along with two cell phones. Given the evidence, the driver was detained and handed over to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Crimes Against Health, specifically for small-scale drug trafficking, to undergo further legal proceedings.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of additional individuals being involved in illegal drug-related activities in the area. The case remains under investigation.
