Playa del Carmen, December 25. – Following the execution of the wife and son of Samuel Esteban “N”, alias “El Troyano” or “El Max”, leader of the criminal cell known as “Los Compich”, the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) reported the detention of six people—three men and three women—for their probable participation in the crime of aggravated homicide, to the detriment of a woman and a minor, whose identities remain reserved.

According to official information, the events occurred in the vicinity of the Playa del Carmen Municipal Detention Center, when the victims were in a nearby store and were attacked with firearms. The crime generated a strong police mobilization and a wide security deployment in the area, given the severity of the attack and the profile of the environment in which it was recorded.

The FGE specified that, thanks to the rapid reaction of the Playa del Carmen Municipal Police, the immediate detention of one of the alleged perpetrators, identified as Irvin Alexander “N”, was achieved. Subsequently, in coordinated actions of the Interinstitutional Group, the other five implicated individuals were captured, who allegedly participated directly or indirectly in the homicide.

As part of the investigations, the ministerial authority maintains as the main line of inquiry the dispute between criminal groups linked to crimes against health, in its modality of drug retail. This context reinforces the hypothesis that the attack would be related to a settling of scores derived from the confrontation between criminal organizations operating in the northern zone of the state.

During the operation, authorities secured the vehicle in which the aggressors attempted to flee, as well as the firearm that was allegedly used to commit the crime. Both pieces of evidence were made available to the Public Prosecutor’s Office and integrated into the corresponding investigation file, while the State Attorney General’s Office reiterated that the inquiries continue to fully clarify the facts and determine the responsibility of each of the detainees.
