Cancun, Quintana Roo — Simultaneous raids in Cozumel and Cancun led to the seizure of suspected drugs, the securing of five properties, and the arrest of two individuals, the Quintana Roo State Prosecutor’s Office announced.
The operations were carried out in coordination with federal forces and security agencies as part of investigations into drug dealing offenses.
One raid targeted a property in the 10 de Abril neighborhood in Cozumel, where agents found bags of dried plant material resembling marijuana. During the operation, Elsi Maria “N” and Ismael “N” were arrested on suspicion of carrying illicit substances.
In a second intervention in the Felix Gonzalez Canto neighborhood, authorities seized solid fragments resembling crack cocaine, crystalline material similar to methamphetamine, dried plant material, and a digital scale.
The operations also extended to Benito Juarez municipality, where authorities searched properties in the Galaxias del Sol, Supermanzana 101, and Ciudad Natura areas. Several packages of green and dried plant material were seized, allegedly linked to drug dealing.
During one of the raids in Cancun, security personnel rescued a female dog with nine puppies and a pig, which were placed under the care of animal protection and welfare staff.
Following the operations, all five properties were secured and placed under ministerial custody. The confiscated substances and the arrested individuals were handed over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will continue investigations to determine their legal status.
