Cancún, Quintana Roo — President Claudia Sheinbaum conducted an inspection of the progress on the Maya cargo train project in Cancún during an official visit to Quintana Roo. This infrastructure is fundamental for enhancing the mobility of goods in the region, aiming to boost the local economy, reduce logistical costs, and consolidate connectivity among the states of southeastern Mexico, thereby contributing to greater industrial competitiveness in the area.

The Maya cargo train is part of a strategic plan to promote economic development in the southeast, including job creation and attracting new investments. The modernization of the railway system in the region is seen as a key driver to increase transportation efficiency, allowing companies to transport their products more agilely and sustainably.

In the context of her tour of the area, the president also visited other social and educational projects. Subsequently, she announced measures such as the elimination of entrance exams for public high schools and the implementation of dual certifications for students of the National Baccalaureate. She emphasized that these actions seek to expand development opportunities for youth in the state, fostering more inclusive and quality education, in line with the objectives of her administration.

The Maya cargo train project is in an advanced stage of construction and is projected to be fully operational in the coming years, providing an economic and social boost to the entire region.
