Mexico City — Colombian superstar Shakira will perform a free concert at Mexico City’s Zócalo main square on March 1, officials confirmed Friday.

The singer announced the show through her social media channels, with Mexico City Mayor Clara Brugada quickly endorsing the announcement, sparking excitement among residents.

Rumors had circulated for days on social media and entertainment websites suggesting the artist would reveal the date during her February 27 concert at Estadio GNP Seguros. The Zócalo performance will be part of her “Las Mujeres No Lloran” world tour that began in 2025 and has visited multiple countries including stops in Mexico, Asia, and the Middle East.

In Mexico, Shakira also has scheduled performances in Tuxtla and Mérida before concluding at Estadio GNP Seguros.

The Zócalo has hosted historic massive concerts and will now welcome one of Latin pop’s most influential artists. Authorities expect large crowds of fans and will announce details about access, schedules, and security operations in coming days.
