Mérida, Yucatán — Street markets known as tianguis are a staple of life in Mérida, offering residents and visitors places to eat, buy new and second-hand clothing, and find hard-to-get items. More than 30 such markets operate across the city’s neighborhoods and subdivisions, with different locations active every day of the week.
Among them, about seven markets stand out for attracting a wide variety of vendors and proving particularly popular with shoppers. These markets sometimes feature valuable items sold at lower prices, as well as unique goods that can be difficult to find elsewhere.
Weekly Market Schedule
The following seven markets operate on a rotating schedule throughout Mérida:
- Monday: 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Calle 121 por 46, Colonia Serapio Rendón.
- Tuesday: 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Calle 61 por 14 y 16, Colonia Esperanza.
- Wednesday: 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Calle 35 por 20, Colonia Polígono CTM.
- Thursday: 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Calle 17 por 38 y 40, Colonia Los Reyes.
- Friday: 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at Calle 51 por 21, Colonia San José Vergel.
- Saturday: 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Calle 35 por 29, Colonia Francisco I. Madero.
- Sunday: 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Calle 147 por 54, Colonia San José Tecoh.
