Tulum, Quintana Roo — A group of mothers searching for missing relatives escaped injury Wednesday morning when their vehicle was involved in a collision on Federal Highway 307, between Felipe Carrillo Puerto and Tulum.
According to initial reports, the accident occurred when a red Chevrolet Aveo traveling north on 5th Avenue failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a white Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van with Quintana Roo license plates.
Witnesses called emergency services, and paramedics arrived to assess those involved. Despite the force of the impact, none of the searching mothers or other occupants required hospital transport. The crash resulted only in material damage.
Officers from the Traffic Department arrived at the scene along with a tow truck to secure the area and prevent further incidents while investigators documented the wreckage.
National Guard personnel also responded and will determine which driver caused the collision and handle the legal proceedings, officials said.
