Tulum, Quintana Roo — International art arrived on the Riviera Maya with the opening of European artist Zoran Matić’s exhibition at Tulum Country Club, an event that brought together residents, special guests, and representatives from the region’s cultural community.

Considered one of the last living disciples of surrealist master Salvador Dalí, Matić presented a collection of works reflecting deep spiritual, philosophical, and technical depth, reinforcing Tulum’s status as a destination that continues to attract international artistic talent.

The exhibition took place at “The Club” within Tulum Country Club facilities during an evening that blended art, culture, and lifestyle in an exclusive setting.

“At Tulum Country Club, we seek to offer experiences that connect our community with art and international talent. Zoran Matić’s presence represents a unique opportunity to bring global-level cultural proposals to Tulum,” said Álvaro Moya, Country Manager of the complex.

During the opening, attendees viewed a selection of works characterized by the combination of multiple painting techniques, accompanied by cocktails that allowed close interaction with the artistic proposal.

The evening also featured musical participation from the group “Ona,” which added a contemporary and sensory component to the event, enriching the cultural experience.

The pieces will remain on display for more than a month, allowing residents and visitors to continue enjoying this international exhibition.

International Career

Originally from the former Yugoslavia (now Serbia), Zoran Matić trained at the Academy of Modern Art in Sarajevo, specializing in drawing, painting, and restoration of ancient art.

Throughout his career, he has participated in more than 70 artistic collectives and developed 36 collective exhibitions, in addition to exploring multidisciplinary performances.

One key moment in his career was his stay at the Salvador Dalí Museum in Figueres, Spain, where he worked for two years and was recognized as one of five artists accepted as disciples of the surrealist painter.

Beyond his visual work, Matić has been awarded as a writer and poet in countries including Japan, Italy, Hungary, and Turkey, and has explored more than 100 painting techniques, integrating influences from Zen Buddhism into his work.

Tulum Strengthens Cultural Profile

The arrival of this type of exhibition strengthens Tulum’s positioning as a meeting point between art, culture, and international lifestyle, integrating proposals that enrich the experience for residents and visitors.

This project forms part of the vision of Piñero, the group to which Tulum Country Club belongs within its Real Estate & Golf division, which promotes cultural initiatives as a cornerstone of its community development.

With more than 20 years of experience in the Caribbean, the firm continues to focus on integrating art, nature, sports, and community in its developments, consolidating Tulum as a destination that transcends tourism to become a cultural reference point.
