Royal Caribbean’s Adventure of the Seas to Arrive in Cozumel

First Cruise Ship Scheduled to Dock Since the Beginning of the COVID 19 Pandemic

With the arrival of Royal Caribbean’s Adventure of the Seas, a ship that sailed from Nassau on June 12th, Cozumel will become the first port in Mexico and the Caribbean to receive cruise ships, more than a year after the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The ship that will arrive next June 16th to the island, according to the municipal president of Cozumel, Pedro Joaquín Delbouis, is an achievement of the intense work that has been carried out with the presidents and representatives of the shipping companies to receive the first cruise ship of the Royal Caribbean shipping company.

The ship is scheduled to arrive at 7:45 a.m. and will be docking at the SSA Mexico International Pier, with the established sanitary safety measures. All passengers onboard and crew will arrive properly immunized against Covid-19.

“The close communication and intense work with the CEO’s of the cruise companies, such as Carnival, Disney, Royal Caribbean, NCL and MSC, as well as with the tourism and health authorities of the State and the Federation, pay off with a safe return to Cozumel for both visitors and crew, as well as for the island’s community, which will allow for greater job generation,” said Delbouis.

He emphasized that his collaboration in the Cruise Tourism Group of the Americas, integrated by the largest associations of this tourism segment, was fundamental to achieve a safe return; in addition, from the National Association of Tourist Municipalities “we set an example of the measures that allow today to advance in the economic and tourist reactivation of the destinations,” he said.

Pedro Joaquín explained that in addition to Royal Caribbean Cruises, he has also worked with the executive directors of Mediterranean Shipping Cruises (MSC), Carnival Corporation, Silversea Cruises and Cruise Saudi, who have confirmed the early return of their cruise ships to this destination.

The municipal president said that with the arrival of the “Adventure of the Seas”, Cozumel becomes the first port in Mexico and the Caribbean to receive cruise ships more than a year after the pandemic began, with a route that includes the private island of Coco Cay, Grand Bahama Island, and The Bahamas.

It is worth mentioning that Cozumel currently has 12 domestic and international air connections, as reported by REPORTUR.mx to meet the needs of the upcoming holiday season, Viva Aerobus announced that for the summer it will be operating new flights from Cozumel to Mexico City, on a regular route, and to Monterrey on a temporary route; as well as from Cancun to Culiacan.
