Chetumal, Mexico — The Mexican band Reik will give a free concert on Valentine’s Day as part of the Chetumal Carnival 2026 celebrations, officials announced. The performance is scheduled for February 14 at the city’s Flag Esplanade, located in front of the Municipal Palace.

The announcement went viral on social media after Chetumal Mayor Yensunni Martínez posted details and extended an invitation to all interested attendees. The carnival, which marks Chetumal’s 114th anniversary, will run from February 12 to 17 in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco, featuring food, dances, parades, and multiple free concerts.

While the municipal government released a calendar of activities, specific start times for the concerts have not been officially confirmed. Based on previous events at the Flag Esplanade, the Reik concert is expected to begin around 9:30 p.m. and conclude by 10:30 p.m. Officials recommend that couples arrive early to secure a good spot.

The free concert series aims to attract tourism from across Mexico, boost local nightlife, foster community interaction, and provide accessible entertainment. Attendees can reach the venue on foot, by taxi, car, or via the Maya Train if traveling from other municipalities.
