Revitalize Quintana Roo with Colorful Magic Routes

In an effort to maintain its status as one of Mexico's "Magic Towns," Quintana Roo is launching a federal program called "Magic Routes of Color." This initiative aims to revitalize 10,000 square meters of facades along the historic center of Cozumel's Fifth Avenue.

The program was initiated by the municipal president, Juanita Alonso Marrufo, at the old Municipal Palace located in Quintana Roo park. Marrufo highlighted that this painting project is a collaborative effort between the Federal Tourism Secretary, the Corazón Urbano Foundation of Comex, and the Municipal Government. It is one of many actions taken to uphold Cozumel's reputation as a "Magical Town."

Badih Sleme Flores, the director of Tourism and Economic Development, explained that the project's goal is to diversify tourist offerings. The plan is to paint approximately 150 facades, covering an area of 10,000 square meters, with vibrant colors. These colors were carefully selected by the College of Architects in collaboration with the Urban Development Department. Work on this project will continue throughout August.

The "Magic Routes of Color" program, led by the municipal government and the Federal Tourism Secretary, includes the facades of businesses, homes, and public buildings. One such building is the old municipal palace, which has not been painted for nearly a decade. These buildings are all located on Fifth Avenue, a key part of the island's historic center.
