Cancún, Quintana Roo — Tourism officials in Quintana Roo have partnered with public relations professionals to enhance promotion of the Mexican Caribbean as a competitive destination. The collaboration aims to strengthen communication strategies and expand tourism beyond traditional beach offerings.
The Association of Public Relations of the Mexican Caribbean (ARPCM) held its monthly meeting with Quintana Roo Tourism Secretary Bernardo Cueto Riestra, who discussed challenges and opportunities in destination promotion with sector professionals.
During the strategic meeting, the state official emphasized the importance of strengthening institutional communication and coordination with PR specialists, describing them as key allies in positioning the Mexican Caribbean nationally and internationally.
Cueto noted that the tourism industry faces a highly competitive environment, making it essential to develop a strong narrative that showcases Quintana Roo’s diverse experiences beyond sun and beach tourism. The strategy aims to promote cultural, gastronomic, sports, and meetings tourism segments.
ARPCM members shared concerns about destination perception, managing media crises, and the need to reinforce promotion in strategic markets. Participants agreed that coordination between authorities, private initiative, and communicators is essential to maintain visitor and investor confidence.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a collaboration agreement between the Tourism Department and ARPCM, led by Addy Gamboa Alejos, to benefit the state’s tourism competitiveness.
