Quintana Roo, Mexico — Three major carnivals in Cancun, Cozumel, and Playa del Carmen will fill the Mexican Caribbean with music, parades, and free concerts throughout February 2026, solidifying their status as key cultural attractions in the region.
Quintana Roo, globally recognized for its beaches and natural landscapes, also draws visitors for its vibrant cultural festivities. The annual carnival season, one of the most anticipated events, will bring thousands together across the three municipalities next year.
Cancun Carnival 2026: Dates, Venues, and Artists
The Cancun Carnival 2026 kicks off on February 12 with the traditional Burning of Bad Mood ceremony, a representative event of the celebration.
- Burning of Bad Mood: February 12 at 7:00 p.m., starting at Plaza de la Reforma and moving toward Parque de Las Palapas. Free admission.
The municipal government invited Cancun families to join the festivities under the slogan: “Be part of the start of this great celebration.”
The main carnival runs from February 13 to 17, with events at Parque de Las Palapas, Malecón Tajamar, and Estadio Sherwin-Williams Beto Ávila. Confirmed artists include Banda MS, María José, La Adictiva, and Bronco. All concerts are free and open to the public.
Cozumel Carnival 2026: 152 Years of History and Tradition
The Cozumel Carnival, considered the island’s biggest party, marks its 152nd anniversary, reaffirming its importance as one of Quintana Roo’s oldest and most cherished traditions.
Governor Mara Lezama and Mayor José Luis Chacón invited locals and visitors to enjoy this celebration that blends history, culture, and top-tier entertainment.
- Pre-carnival: January 17 to February 8 at Centro de Espectáculos Moby Dick and Parque Quintana Roo.
- Main carnival: February 11 to 18.
Free concerts feature Gloria Trevi, María José, Lasso, Alexander Acha, Los Socios del Ritmo, Junior Klan, Luli Pampín, and Jocelyn Díaz.
Playa del Carmen Carnival 2026: Free Concerts and New Genres
The Playa del Carmen Carnival is highly anticipated each year for its musical lineup and the symbolic competition among municipalities to offer the best show.
The carnival runs from February 14 to 17, with free concerts at Plaza 28 de Julio starting at 9:00 p.m.
Mayor Estefanía Mercado announced a diverse lineup that has sparked conversation:

- NSQK – February 16
- 90’s Pop Tour – February 17
