Quintana Roo breaks flight record with 766 daily operations

Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama announcing the flight operations record

Cancún, Quintana Roo — Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa announced a historic record as Quintana Roo reached 766 flight operations in a single day on Friday, December 20, across its four airports. This figure confirms the strength of the tourist destination and the high demand for air connectivity from national and international visitors.

“Today Quintana Roo is breaking a historic record in air connectivity. More than 766 operations in a single day, across the four airports of the state—Cancún, Tulum, Cozumel, and Chetumal—an unprecedented number,” she stated.

The state executive asserted that this new record reflects the confidence of airlines and the preference of millions of visitors who choose the Mexican Caribbean as the main tourist hub in Mexico and one of the leading ones in the world. “The high air demand confirms the success of tourism diversification in the 12 destinations of the state,” she said.

The state governor emphasized that these 766 operations were recorded across the four airports of the state: Cancún, Tulum, Cozumel, and Chetumal.

Furthermore, Mara Lezama reported that looking ahead to 2026, the prospects are highly positive, with the projection of at least 17 new air routes operated by 11 airlines between December 2025 and June 2026.

“This will allow us to diversify markets, strengthen visitor arrivals, and generate greater shared prosperity for our people,” she assured.

For his part, Tourism Secretary Bernardo Cueto highlighted that, under the leadership of Governor Mara Lezama, the state has consolidated sustained growth in the tourism sector and reinforced the strategic role of its airport infrastructure for regional economic development.

These new connections, he explained, will strengthen visitor arrivals, diversify source markets, and expand economic growth opportunities for Quintana Roo families, consolidating Quintana Roo as one of the main tourist hubs in Mexico and the Caribbean.
