Quintana Roo Mobility Agency Faces Allegations of Impersonation During Chetumal Operation

Chetumal, Quintana Roo — Residents reported on Monday that a man not employed by the Quintana Roo State Mobility Institute (Imoveqroo) allegedly participated in a vehicle inspection operation at the intersection of Juárez and Juan José Siordia avenues in the state capital.

According to witnesses, the individual wore a vest with Imoveqroo insignia and reportedly helped remove license plates from several vehicles—an action reserved only for inspectors with visible credentials. Observers claim the man removed the vest when he noticed media presence at the scene.

Social media users have identified the person as a driver for an inspector, though authorities have not confirmed this information. The primary person implicated is Jesús Joaquín Covarrubias, director of Inspections, who allegedly authorized the impersonation.

The controversy has prompted calls for Imoveqroo to issue an official statement regarding the allegations.
