Quintana Roo Legislature Undermines Public Interest

The XVIII Legislature of the Quintana Roo State Congress has been making decisions that seemingly disregard public interest, contrary to the promises made during their election campaigns. These actions are set to directly impact the citizens. One such decision was to extend the term of the State Attorney General of Quintana Roo for another 12 years, despite his history of corruption and negligence.

The political elite has effectively taken control of the State Attorney General's Office, placing it in the hands of an individual who has failed to uphold justice. The Legislature has also amended the Law of Entities of the State Public Administration, removing the requirement for executive positions to be filled by natives of Quintana Roo. This change opens up opportunities for individuals from outside the state to take up these positions.

These decisions reflect a subservience to the political and economic interests of the ruling elite, rather than prioritising the welfare of the people. It is essential that the political class reassess whether these actions truly serve the public interest or merely their own.
