Cancún, Quintana Roo — Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa announced the launch of a school-based measles vaccination campaign in Quintana Roo, with health teams visiting public elementary schools to review and complete vaccination schedules for children under 12.
During her program “La Voz del Pueblo,” the governor said the campaign is coordinated with the Quintana Roo Education Department and will cover 119 elementary schools across various municipalities. Parental consent is required, and families must provide vaccination records for verification. Those without records can sign an authorization form.
The campaign began on March 3 and will run through the end of the month, aiming to boost protection for children before the Easter holiday period. Teachers will collect vaccination records in advance for health personnel to review. If missing doses are identified, teams will administer them on-site.
In Chetumal, teams visited Aarón Merino Fernández Elementary School on March 5 and will visit Octavio Paz Elementary on March 6. In Playa del Carmen, Gregoria Cob Cob Elementary was visited on March 5.
Lezama emphasized that the effort is part of the state’s health prevention strategy to protect children and address incomplete vaccination schedules for preventable diseases like measles.
