Quintana Roo — Health officials in Quintana Roo are conducting a door-to-door measles vaccination campaign this week, targeting neighborhoods in Cancún, Playa del Carmen, and Felipe Carrillo Puerto to complete vaccination schedules for children and adults.

The Quintana Roo Health Department launched the initiative to prevent outbreaks and strengthen community protection against measles, a highly contagious disease that can cause serious complications without vaccination. Medical teams are visiting specific neighborhoods to administer free SRP (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) and SR (Measles and Rubella) vaccines.

Vaccination Schedule by Municipality

The campaign runs through Sunday, April 5, 2026, with the following schedule:

  • Benito Juárez (Cancún): Colonia Las Palmas, until Sunday, April 5, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Playa del Carmen: Colonia Colosio, until Thursday, April 2, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; Colonia Bella Vista, Friday, April 3, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Felipe Carrillo Puerto: Colonia San Antonio Tuk, Tuesday, March 31 and Wednesday, April 1, 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; Colonia Centro, Thursday, April 2 and Friday, April 3, 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Officials urge residents to watch for clearly identified health teams, who are trained to provide safe care.

Priority Groups for Vaccination

The campaign targets individuals with incomplete or missing vaccination records, including:

  • Children aged 6 months to 12 years with incomplete schedules, no previous doses, or only one dose administered over six months ago.
  • People aged 13 to 49 who have not been vaccinated previously.

Health authorities emphasize that vaccination is the most effective measure to prevent infections and community outbreaks.

Requirements for Vaccination

To facilitate proper record-keeping, residents should have their National Health Card and CURP (Unique Population Registry Code) available. The vaccines provided are safe, free, and part of the national vaccination program.
