Bacalar, Quintana Roo — The Magic Town of Bacalar is strengthening its tourism promotion as one of the most complete destinations in the Mexican Caribbean, combining historical, cultural, and natural wealth into a unique experience for national and international visitors.

During a tour, Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa highlighted the significance of the Fort of San Felipe, an 18th-century building that preserves a fundamental part of the region’s history when the population defended itself against pirates, corsairs, and buccaneers.

This site houses the Museum of the Fort of San Felipe Bacalar, a space that offers a journey through the pre-Hispanic era, Maya culture, mestizaje, and daily life in the Caribbean, along with aspects like navigation and trade of the period. Through its rooms, visitors can delve into the history that gave rise to this destination.

As part of the experience, the visit to the craft shop is also promoted, where the talent of local creators is displayed. Mara Lezama invited people to consult the state’s museum guide, which includes venues in Bacalar, Chetumal, and Tihosuco, with detailed information to promote cultural tourism.

“Bacalar, this Magic Town that is part of the Mexican Caribbean, the World Capital of Vacations, is not only recognized for its natural beauty but also for its historical legacy, which can be appreciated in murals, exhibitions, and guided tours that enrich the visit,” the Governor said.

Finally, the Governor invited visitors, at the end of the tour, to enjoy an impressive view of the emblematic Laguna de los Siete Colores, one of the main attractions of the destination, whose unique tones position it as an icon of the Mexican Caribbean.

“We are culture, we are history, we are Quintana Roo,” Mara Lezama said, inviting tourists to discover and enjoy Bacalar, a destination that combines tradition, identity, and unparalleled landscapes.
