Apply Now: Women’s Higher Ed Scholarships in Quintana Roo

QUINTANA ROO, Mexico — The Technical Committee of the Scholarship Program for Women in Higher Education has approved the call for applications corresponding to the September-December 2025 period. The call began publication on September 25 across the institutional social media channels and those of the Quintana Roo State Education Secretariat (SEQ).

The scholarships are designed as a tool to provide financial and academic support to talented and motivated women who face economic difficulties in accessing higher education. The initiative is part of the New Agreement for the Well-being and Development of Quintana Roo promoted by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, which has established an education system focused on excellence, humanism, transformation, solidarity, and inclusion, supporting lower-income students so they can continue and complete their studies.

Eligibility Requirements for Applicants

Among the requirements that applicants must meet to access the scholarship are the following: to be women of Mexican nationality or naturalized Mexican citizens; to be enrolled in a participating Public Institution of Higher Education in the State (IPES) during the September-December 2025 period.

Additionally, applicants must not receive another financial benefit for the same purpose granted by any federal, state, or municipal agency; they must have a minimum grade point average of 8.0 or its equivalent on a scale of 0 to 10 in the immediately preceding semester or quarter, as applicable, and must provide proof of grades from the mentioned period.

Participating Educational Institutions

Eligible students are those enrolled in the following IPES: Cancún University of Technology; Cancún Institute of Technology; University of the Caribbean; Quintana Roo Polytechnic University; National Pedagogical University campus Cancún, campus Playa del Carmen, campus Chetumal, and campus Felipe Carrillo Puerto; Cancún campus of the "Javier Rojo Gómez" Regional Normal School.

Also included are: Quintana Roo Autonomous University campus Cancún, campus Cozumel, campus Playa del Carmen, campus Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Bahía, Health Sciences campus; Riviera Maya University of Technology; Tulum University of Technology; Felipe Carrillo Puerto Higher Technological Institute.

Participation is also open to students at the Felipe Carrillo Puerto Regional Normal School; Quintana Roo Maya Intercultural University; Chetumal University of Technology; Chetumal Institute of Technology; Center for Teacher Updating; Zona Maya Institute of Technology; Bacalar Polytechnic University; and the "Javier Rojo Gómez" Regional Normal School of Bacalar.

Selection Criteria

The SEQ will analyze and review the applications based on the following selection criteria: that the applicants are women of Mexican nationality or naturalized Mexican citizens; that they are registered in the Victim Registry of the Executive Commission for Attention to Victims of the State of Quintana Roo, if applicable.

Similarly, priority will be given to those in households with the greatest economic need, preferably based on the income poverty line established by the National Council for the Evaluation of Social Development Policy 2025 or corresponding institution, and to those enrolled in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Programs.

It is important to note that, in accordance with equity and transparency, the Quintana Roo Education Secretariat has instructed the Public Institutions of Higher Education not to grant extensions or accept late applications.
