Quintana Roo Deploys Mobile Health Caravans with Free Medical Services Across Three Regions

A mobile health unit providing free medical services in Quintana Roo, Mexico

Cancún, Mexico — The Quintana Roo government launched a major operation of mobile health caravans this week, offering free medical services across the state’s northern, central, and southern regions from February 2 to 6.

The initiative, coordinated by the State Health Department (SESA), aims to bring specialized healthcare closer to residents, promote early disease detection, and ensure cost-free access to medical services, particularly for vulnerable communities.

Service Locations and Schedule

The mobile units operate simultaneously from 7:00 a.m. daily at three strategic locations:

  • Southern Zone (Chetumal, Othón P. Blanco): Parque de las Casitas, serving the David Gustavo, Leona Vicario, Martínez Ross, Benito Juárez, Ocho de Octubre, Campestre, and Centro neighborhoods.
  • Northern Zone (Cancún, Benito Juárez): Parque de las Palapas, serving superblocks 1-5, 18, 20-27, 29-32, and 60-64.
  • Central Zone (San José Segundo, Felipe Carrillo Puerto): Domo de la Comunidad, serving San Felipe Berriozábal, Canzepchén, Trapich, Tuzic, Tixcacal Guardia, Señor, José María Pino Suárez, San José Primero, Santa Rosa Segundo, Melchor Ocampo, and San Francisco Aké communities.

Available Free Medical Services

The caravans provide over 15 specialized medical services at no cost, including:

  • Comprehensive medical consultations and clinical laboratory tests
  • Mammograms, chest X-rays, and bone densitometry
  • Electrocardiograms and pelvic-obstetric ultrasounds
  • Dental care, nutritional counseling, and vision/hearing screenings
  • Psychological support and specialized assistance for violence victims
  • Pharmacy with basic medications and ambulance services for emergencies

Requirements for Service

Residents must present copies of their official identification (INE) and CURP (Unique Population Registry Code) to access the services.

The state strategy prioritizes prevention and early detection of chronic-degenerative diseases, along with medical follow-up for pregnant women, older adults, and at-risk populations, reducing the need for costly transfers to higher-level hospitals.
