Mexico City, December 9. Quintana Roo ranked among the three states of the Republic with the greatest reduction in the daily average of intentional homicides, registering a decrease of 56.7%, according to the report presented this Tuesday by Marcela Figueroa Franco, head of the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP), during the morning press conference of President Claudia Sheinbaum.
According to the report, which covers the period from September 2024 to November 2025, that is, since the beginning of the administration of President Claudia Sheinbaum, Quintana Roo achieved this substantial reduction that places it alongside Zacatecas and Chiapas as the entities with the best results in the reduction of intentional homicides.
At the national level, Marcela Figueroa reported that intentional homicides show a sustained downward trend over the last 14 months. In September 2024, 86.9 daily homicides were recorded; by November 2025, that figure had been reduced to 54.7, representing a decline of 37%, equivalent to 32 fewer homicides per day.
November 2025 also became the November with the lowest homicide count in the last ten years, since 2015.
Annual Comparisons Confirm Improvement
The preliminary analysis for 2025—with eleven months accounted for—indicates that this year is shaping up to be the one with the lowest homicide incidence since 2018, with a 35% reduction in the daily average compared to that year.
