Cancún, Quintana Roo — The Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council is negotiating with Televisa to host FIFA Fan Fest events in Cancún, Playa del Carmen, and Chetumal for the 2026 World Cup.
“We are in negotiations with Televisa, which holds the broadcast rights, to see how we can have more than one event, not just in Cancún but in Playa del Carmen and Chetumal,” said Andrés Martínez Reynoso, director of the council.
FIFA Fan Fest events come in three formats for the 2026 tournament, which will be hosted by Mexico, the United States, and Canada.
FIFA Fan Fest
This format is promoted as the best space outside stadiums to watch World Cup matches live in a lively atmosphere, offering not just soccer but music, entertainment, culture, cuisine, and the lifestyle of host countries. It is only organized in cities where matches are held.
Fan Fest Domestic
This refers to spaces authorized by FIFA within the host countries of the 2026 World Cup that are not stadium venues, allowing the official experience to reach more fans.
Public Viewing
These are locations where matches are projected and must operate for an entire month.
According to the event’s official website, the FIFA Fan Festival will be a key part of the 2026 World Cup, offering a festive environment with live match broadcasts, music, entertainment, cultural expressions, and local cuisine for national and international fans.
For this edition in the Mexico-U.S.-Canada region, a decentralized Fan Fest model is planned, with greater emphasis on tourism, local experiences, and technological integration. The event will use mobile apps, QR codes, and immersive experiences, and serve as a strategic promotion tool for destinations outside official venues.
