Playa del Carmen, Mexico — To continue promoting the struggle of the LGBTTTIQA+ community, especially transgender individuals, activist and human rights defender Kenya Cuevas will appear next Monday in Playa del Carmen for a conversation titled Queerversatorio, members of the sexual diversity community announced this Friday at a press conference.
Activist Joe Zavaleta stated that he will share his story and his fight for human rights so that attendees become sensitized and aware to make history for change.
Ryan Espinosa, Director of Sexual Diversity for the municipality of Playa del Carmen, said for his part that this conversation will also achieve alliances. He noted that it is not an event that came together in a week, but that they have been working for a year to bring Kenya Cuevas.
This conversation will also include four other activists: Coco, Jazmín, Linger, and Anya; and will be opened by Dafne Velasco, they announced.
The event will be public and free, and although the auditorium of the Playa del Carmen cultural center has space for a total of 207 people, if it is exceeded they will find a way for everyone to witness it.
In fact, they confirmed that there will be four presentations by this activist, but they said the dates and locations will be announced gradually.
Joe Zavaleta emphasized that it is not only about raising awareness and making this sector of the population visible in June (during Pride Month), but about carrying out activities throughout the entire year.
He said this conversation will have the same strength as the Pride March to achieve change.
The appointment is this February 2 at 4:00 p.m., at the forum of the Cultural Center located on CTM Avenue, with 115.
