Puerto Morelos: Your Next Adventure Awaits

Cancún, Mexico — Puerto Morelos Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz participated in the inauguration of the 37th Edition of the Cancún Travel Mart, organized by the Cancún, Puerto Morelos, and Isla Mujeres Hotel Association (AHCPMIM), alongside Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama. The event was held at the Iberostar hotel in the city of Cancún.

Within this framework, Mayor Tziu Muñoz indicated that there is close collaboration between the three levels of government and the AHCPMIM to continue positioning the destinations of the Mexican Caribbean at the pinnacle of tourism development in Latin America and the world.

She affirmed that Puerto Morelos is consolidating itself with a greater number of hotel rooms, which are expected to reach 7,900 by the end of 2025.

"This is a great showcase for our destination, which offers diverse experiences, such as a haven for rest and an adventure destination thanks to our great Ruta de los Cenotes, which offers jungle tours and the opportunity to swim in these great water caverns. Furthermore, we are betting on our great gastronomy by creating synergy with our local producers," she highlighted.

Mayor Tziu Muñoz stated that the success of this great tourism fair will be reflected in the economy of the people of Puerto Morelos. "We are going to take full advantage of every business appointment, backing our tourism service providers, as we follow the line of our Governor Mara Lezama, promoting shared prosperity," she said.

In her address, Governor Mara Lezama wished success to the participants, describing the event as a consolidated gathering that counts on the attendance of more than 500 delegates from 200 companies from Mexico and the world. She expressed hope that this edition would surpass the 3,850 business appointments that generated $4.95 billion in negotiations recorded in 2024.

She announced the upcoming launch of the "Viajes por el mundo Maya" platform, which will offer 42 cities, six of which are in Quintana Roo, with the objective of promoting the culture and conservation of each one.

Furthermore, she highlighted that the region will have a great showcase with the 2026 World Cup, as it has the only airport that connects with all the host cities for the sporting events.

For his part, the Director of Tourism Policies for the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR), Alfonso Ballesteros, representing Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, recognized the great work done by the governor while leading the entity that represents the country's tourist destinations.

He detailed that from January to August, the number of foreign tourists was 31.5 million, 7.5 million more than in 2024.

The President of the AHCPMIM, Rodrigo de la Peña Segura, thanked the combined efforts of the participants to consolidate the economic engine of Quintana Roo and invited everyone to continue working together towards the Fitur fair in Spain and the World Cup, which he said will be a great window of opportunity.

He also recognized the workers of the tourism sector for being the friendly and hospitable face of Mexico's destinations.

At this 37th edition of the Cancún Travel Mart, Benito Juárez Municipal President Ana Paty Peralta welcomed the attendees. Also present were the Secretary of Tourism, Bernardo Cueto Riestra, and the municipal presidents of Isla Mujeres, Atenea Gómez Ricalde, and of Playa del Carmen, Estefanía Mercado.

Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, a tour of the business cubicles for the registered companies took place.
