Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo — The municipal government of Puerto Morelos has approved a 2026 Annual Investment Program totaling over 49 million pesos for infrastructure projects, following the reinstatement of the municipal planning committee.
Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz oversaw the swearing-in and reinstatement of the Municipal Planning Committee for Development (COPLADEMUN) for the 2024-2027 term, in compliance with recent reforms to Quintana Roo’s development planning law.
During the session, the council reviewed and approved the closure of the 2025 Annual Investment Program, which utilized 14.7 million pesos from FAISMUN funds, 26.3 million pesos from FORTAMUN, and 21.3 million pesos from municipal resources. These investments funded construction projects, street maintenance, and absorption wells in both the municipal seat and the Leona Vicario delegation.
The council then presented and approved the opening of the 2026 Annual Investment Program with a total budget of 49,356,296 pesos. Funding will come from 8.7 million pesos in municipal resources and 40.6 million pesos in federal funds.
The 2026 investment will focus on urban infrastructure construction, avenue maintenance, absorption well creation, and comprehensive rehabilitation of the Isaac Hamui Sports Complex.
2026 Operational Program Includes 132 Million Pesos
The council also reviewed the closure of the 2025 Annual Operational Program and opened the 2026 version, which projects resources of 132,215,274.79 pesos. These funds will finance works and actions through the Environmental Sanitation Trust, a key instrument for strengthening municipal infrastructure and sustainable development.
Mayor Tziu Muñoz emphasized the committee’s importance in programming resources and projects for residents’ wellbeing. “We work to continue strengthening our municipality with responsibility and transparency in the exercise of public resources,” she stated.
Attendees at the first session included Viola María Cardín Ruiz, operational director of COPLADE; Lídice Monsserrat Gutiérrez Briceño, general director of municipal development planning; municipal officials Carlo Fonseca León, José De Jesús Espinosa Payán, Rosario Del Carmen Concha Naal, Luis Alán López Becerril, and José Luis Ciau Xiu; cabinet secretaries; and representatives from engineering and architecture colleges and indigenous communities.
The mayor highlighted the importance of strengthening strategic planning mechanisms, citizen participation, and permanent evaluation to ensure Puerto Morelos develops with order and long-term vision. Agreements from the session were ratified by the municipal council in their regular meeting.
